Cars Région network in Isère

Cars Région en Isère, the public transport network of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, is :

  • It provides a unique zone fares for everyone in Isère;
  • A single visual identity for every player operating the network;
  • A network of points of sale on the whole area;
  • A more effective public transport solution.

 Several dozens of companies with their easily recognizable white and blue coaches operate the network under contract to the Department (some still sport the colors yellow and blue).

The network brings together more than twenty carriers, all under contract with the Région Auvergne Rhone alpes. The mission of these carriers is to operate one or more bus lines entrusted to them and to offer residents of Isère a high-performance public transport service
Years after years, the public transport network expands, the transit network and the efficiency of provided services are increasing.
Thus, thanks to key bus and coach stations in Grenoble and Villefontaine, the network is equipped with high-quality services routes called “Lignes Express”.

The Department carries out actions to improve the network, both in terms of rolling stock and infrastructure. Thus, since June 16, 2020, a VRTC (Reserved Way for Collective Transport) has been set up. This starts at the Veurey-Voroize entry ramp (n ° 13) towards Grenoble and will end on the RN481, to the right of the exit ramp towards Grenoble Gares / Europole (n ° 16) in order to guarantee a regularity of travel times while providing an alternative to the automobile.

With the aim of being as close as possible to the people of the Isère region, the community wanted to offer them a single point of contact and set up a manager for services associated with the network: Cars Région Services. This entity is in charge of customer relations (call center, complaints management, etc.). In addition, Facebook pages have been set up for the X01, X02, X03X04 and X05-X06-X07 lines, in order to communicate with customers on a daily basis about the latest news.

In the future, efforts will be focused on strengthening intermodality and complementarity between the various modes of transportation. With this in mind, the network has been using the Oùra card since April 2011. This contactless card allows you to travel on the entire network, the urban networks of the Isère and the TER with a single medium. Payments are made easier with the gradual deployment of contactless payment by bank card in all the network's buses. Since September 30, 2019, occasional users can buy a ticket by SMS.

In addition, the Department is working on the development of new mobility services such as carpooling, organized hitchhiking and multimodal information. A carpooling line is active in the Grésivaudan sector and the establishment of a second line is scheduled for 2020 in Bièvre-Valloire. On the Matheysin plateau, the practice of hitchhiking has been based on a partnership with Rézo Pouce since 2018. Finally, the Department also provides a multimodal information service itinisère. To facilitate intermodal travel, racks that can carry up to six bicycles are installed at the back of coaches on the regular lines of Oisans, Matheysine, Vercors and Balcons de Belledonne.

Virtuous travel is rewarded via a simple and free Mov'ici loyalty program. The use of carpooling lines allows to accumulate gift points and to benefit from exclusive offers.

Carbon footprint

Using public transportation limits your greenhouse gas consumption to 177gCO²equivalent/passenger.km

Transport services: CO2 emissions display is mandatory since October 1st 2013. A decree published in the Journal Officiel (official bulletin giving details of laws and official announcements) in April 18th 2012, sets October 1st 2013 as the date from which public transports users have to be informed of the quantity of carbon dioxide emitted by the mode(s)of transport they use.

In order to favour the most eco-friendly mode of transport, the Grenelle II Act (the latest French environmental law) imposes on every transport provider (organizing the transportation of persons or goods) to inform users of the environmental impact assessment of their services.

As part of the 2019 innovations, in addition to promoting the latest generation of less polluting diesel coaches, four lines connecting Grésivaudan to the agglomeration of Grenoble will be equipped with NGV coaches running on natural gas from the start of 2020.
